Renaming the Boat

There are many superstitions about renaming a boat and if you want to have bad luck forever you don't follow the rules. Some of what we've heard / read about included:

  • Pouring wine / whiskey / alcohol on the bow and in the water
  • Breaking a bottle on the stem
  • Having a Virgin Pee on the bow
  • Giving a personal sacrifice to Poseidon/Neptune
  • Thanking the gods for keeping care of the boat with the old name, and asking them  to take care of the boat with the new name.
Well, we followed most of the advice given, and renamed Eridanus to Tara, carefully removing the old name from the back, (sanding with wet-dry sandpaper 400-600-800-1000-1200-1500 and then rubbing compound) and placing the new name on the back and the bow. Tara's transformation is now complete
