After a few abandoned attempts to line up we got it right
and backed into our spot. A grumpy Aussie said that we put our anchor over 2
chains, I didn’t think so — and when we left the next morning we were right,
Marina put us in the exact right spot — except we put out about 60 meters of
chain, a little more than necessary but better safe than sorry.
JJ and I filed up the fridge with beer and cider plus some
Tonic for G and T’s. Then we went out for a pizza that was strangely
reminiscent of Taso’s in West Van, which burned down serendipitously a few years
ago after receiving a building permit for a new structure. Jess went to bed
early, Marina and I hung out together and enjoyed each other’s company.
If Preveza is any indication, the Greek economy is working
again. 5 years ago perhaps 1 out of 3 places were closed and vacant. Today it’s
a vibrant town and it’s getting busy. In previous years the quay was about half
full. Today there were perhaps 4 open spots for boats, so there are a hundred
yachts tied up and spending money in the city. Amazing what some investment in
power and water infrastructure for boats can do to the cruising population.
Other than a lack of swimming immediately near by, Preveza is a destination
now.
