After a night on the Quay at Preveza, we got up early and just before 07:00 we turned off the electricity and shipped the cord, cast off the stern lines and popped out over the anchor — that was no-where near another boat’s ground tackle … Haha grumpy old Australian guy …we weren’t on your anchor or anyone else’s.
We went and dropped anchor in a calm area and proceeded to pull Marina back up the mast to fix the jib. After untying the several lengths of rope around the jib, we unrolled the jib the small amount we had it furled but the halyard got wrapped, probably because there wasn’t enough tension on it.
Regardless, Marina went up the mast again and unravelled it, and we managed
to get the jib up. Only about 3 hours worth of work. Grrr. The main went up
quickly and we headed to Cleopatra Marina for a refrigerator service. An hour and a
half and 161 Euros later we were on our way. On our way to Pargas where we’re meeting up
with our neighbours from Taylorwood and good friends, Angie and Cal.
I needed a nap along the way and was in
my cabin with my headphones on and checking my eyelids for light-leaks. After a
while you become attuned to noises on a boat and the motor changed revs, then
light came in the hatch and was burning hot so I moved, then moved again and
again, then the motor changed revs again, and I heard the transmission engage …
WTF, I run up “what’s going on” and there are 2 girls starkers on the back of
boat showering off after a swim “we got hot so decided to go for a swim”. Who
can argue with that? We chose to go to a small cove that we’d never been to and
dropped an anchor among a group of boats, not too crowded, not too empty. We
had a terrific dinner.
Around 01:00 I heard this boat alarm, but it wasn’t one I could remember hearing before. I hop out of bed to head upstairs, and meet Marina at the companionway. Turned out the yacht beside us must have had an anchor watch alarm, the wind shifted and it went off. It took them another minute to quiet the alarm. They must be more sound sleepers than we are!
