Once an Engineer Always an Engineer

Mike Fedak is an engineer and has spent his professional life from building telescopes in Hawaii to Rescue Submarines in North Vancouver and pretty much everything in between.

One of the toughest things about this part of Greece is the heat. It is relentless and the Ionian is not nearly as windy as the Aegean ... so it is hot at night. After sleeping on deck the first night, Mike was determined to improve air-flow into his cabin so he designed an air-scoop, acquired the requisite material (e.g., dumpster dove some cardboard) and fashioned a serviceable air-scoop for their cabin.

Me the consultant, saw that it was a good idea -- went to the chandler and bought a wind scoop as a 'proof of concept' -- once again hilighting the difference between consultants and engineers ...
